Strike in Greece – 30 May

“Your development is destroying our lives! Our only option: Organise and fight back!”

Under this slogan, thousands of strikers from dozens of labour sectors, gathered in the centre of Athens, outside the Parliament, responding to the “development plans” of the government, the big conglomerates and the trade union forces of the employers and the government, which want to sacrifice the workers for the so-called “national goals” of the monopolies.

Within the framework of demands set by PAME, which brings to the forefront the needs of the workers and their families, the participants in the strike took a stance against the employers and the government, which are intensifying their attacks, aiming to support their profits and competitiveness.

The strike, which took place in Omonoia Square, was greeted by George Dalios, Vice President of the Hellenic Confederation of Professionals, Craftsmen & Merchants (GSEVEE), while Giannis Tasioulas, member of PAME’s Executive Secretariat and UITBB’s Secretariat, and President of the Federation of Construction Workers and Allied Trades of Greece, delivered the main speech. Later on, the participants marched towards Syntagma Square.

Comrade Giannis Tasioulas, member of PAME’s Executive Secretariat and UITBB’s Secretariat, and President of the Federation of Construction Workers and Allied Trades of Greece, delivered the main speech at the strike.
