Togo: A day of awareness on women's rights

On the occasion of the International Day of Women's Rights, the female trade unionists from the National Union of Public Works, Administrative Garages and Roads of TOGO (SYNTRAGAVO) together with those of the National Union of Workers in Private Building Enterprises, Public Works , Roads and allied trades of TOGO (SYNBARCOT), boths affiliates of the UITBB, held last March 8 a Day of awareness raising on the rights of working women, particularly in relation to:
  • right to education
  • right to vocational training
  • right to union protection
  • right to join trade unions of their choice
  • right to protection against administrative measures
  • right to fight against trafficking and child labor
  • right to health
  • right to maternity leave
  • right to enter politics
  •  right to customary law, civil and religious marriage.

They also reiterated the need to ratify and implement the various international conventions relating to women.
