RECENT STUDY OF PAKISTAN BRICK UNION ON CHILD AND FORCED LABOUR |

A recent study by the Pakistan Brick Kiln Labour Union (PBKLU) indicates that almost half of kiln workers in the district of Sahiwal in Pakistan are under 16 years old, that 90 % of workers are not registered on the list of voters and that their families work in conditions of slavery. PBKLU has promoted fruitful ID distribution campains as well as for registering the workers as voters so that they would be able to enjoy their civil rights. Furthermore, thanks to its
mobilizations, PBKLU has induced the relevant authorities to become active in the struggle against slavery.
