schage_des_briques

A recent study by the Pakistan Brick Kiln Labour Union (PBKLU) indicates that almost half of kiln workers in the district of Sahiwal in Pakistan are under 16 years old, that 90 % of workers are not registered on the list of voters and that their families work in conditions of slavery. PBKLU has promoted fruitful ID distribution campains as well as for registering the workers as voters so that they would be able to enjoy their civil rights. Furthermore, thanks to its  mobilizations, PBKLU has induced the relevant authorities to become active in the struggle against slavery.

Sahiwal is the administrative centre of Sahiwal District in southeastern Punjab province of Pakistan. Sahiwal, a growing city with some 220 000 inhabitants, lies at approximately 180 km from Lahore the capital of Punjab (second city of the country after Karachi).
